Jack B. Lewis, MSW, LCSW
Jack B. Lewis earned a B.A. degree in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University in 1979 and a MSW from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work in 1981. In 1989, Jack earned a LSW from the state of Pennsylvania and a LCSW in 2004. His clinical area of interest is psychiatric social work with emphasis on crisis intervention. He also has a clinical interest in the provision of mental health services to African Americans, especially men. Jack has 25 years experience in direct and macro practice settings.
For the past 15 years Jack has worked for the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania,6 years for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the past 9 years for the University. For the past 6 months Mr. Lewis has been working as the Director of the Office of Diversity and Community Outreach for the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. This office was newly created by the dean of the School of Medicine with two primary objectives; 1. increasing the representation of minorities in the school of medicine in the faculty, residents and medical students and 2. coordinate community outreach initiatives for the School of Medicine. Jack was appointed to this position after working as the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment for the Penn School of Social Work, where he served for 4 years. For the past two years, Jack has also served an appointment as a member of the adjunct faculty for the School of Social Policy and Practice in the Racism Sequence. Jack currently serves as Co-advisor to the Penn Chapter of the Association of Black Social Work students and mentor to several students at the School of Social Policy and Practice.
